BILLERICAY Town owner Glenn Tamplin says investment from reality TV star Mark Wright could lead to a documentary about the club’s fortunes.

Wright is likely to buy as much as 20 per cent of the Ryman Premier League club, having followed the club more closely in recent times because of his personal friendship with Tamplin, who is also the club’s caretaker manager.

And Tamplin said, although nothing had been rubber-stamped yet, he would be sitting down with the former Southend United and Grays Athletic defender to see how his involvement could benefit the club.

This includes a documentary similar to ‘Class of ‘92’ which followed the rise of Manchester outfit Salford City.

“Mark watched the Burgess Hill Town game a few weeks ago and was impressed with what he saw,” said Tamplin.

“We have been friends long before TOWIE was a thing and when I took over, Mark took a slight interest.

“As we picked up results, and we showed signs of development in terms of crowd numbers and facilities, he has taken more of an interest.

“He believes he can bring a whole new dimension to the club if he could invest around 20 per cent. I am considering it and we would need to agree a figure and talk about what he would bring to the club.

“Mark believes if he is involved there could be a TV programme like they did with Salford City. If that was put on the table I couldn’t deny that to Billericay.”

However, despite the media fanfare surrounding the club Tamplin is determined for the team to remain focused as they bid to secure promotion to the National League South.

“This is an exciting time for the club but people must remember that I didn’t take over Billericay for these reasons or to get celebrity involvement,” he said.

“I want this team to be in League Two and be successful. But if we can grow them quicker with an injection from someone like Mark I will consider it.”
