CONCORD Rangers pulled seven points clear of the National League South drop zone after sealing a 2-0 win over Hemel Hempstead Town.

Goals from Jordan Chiedozie either side of half time was enough to give the Beach Boys their first victory since mid-February.

Concord boss Adam Flanagan thinks his side need one more win to secure their National League South status.

Flanagan said: “I think we need one more win to be sure of safety.

“It was pleasing to see Jordan score two more goals.

“I think in a full season Jordan could score up to 30 goals at this level so it’s great to see him happy here.”

Ex-Concord midfielder Ben Greenhalgh and Charlie Sheringham tested goalkeeper Bailey Vose early in the first half.

But the hosts took the lead on 28 minutes. A Sam Collins cross was flicked on by skipper Steve Cawley and Chiedozie tapped the ball home from close range.

Just before the hour mark, Hemel midfielder Matt Saunders was denied by a good block and, on the counter attack, Chiedozie went on a great run and was cynically fouled by Kyle Connolly, who was booked.

Chiedozie took the resulting free kick and found the top corner to double his tally.

Cawley missed the chance to score a third for the Beach Boys late on but two goals was enough to secure all three points.
