EAST Thurrock United were left humbled on the south coast as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat at Eastbourne Borough.
Rocks had ended a run of three straight defeats against Bath City on Saturday, and were handed another mid-table challenge against Eastbourne.
Borough started well and could have had a two-goal lead inside five minutes.
Jamie Taylor and Nathaniel Pinney had chances that they couldn’t capitalise on before Rocks had a better chance to go ahead.
The visitors were awarded a penalty and up stepped Reece Harris, but the winger saw his kick saved by Jordan Holmes.
Taylor smashed an effort of the frame of the goal as Sports continued to maraud forward and a purple patch shortly before the break saw them take control.
First, a corner dropped to Sports centre-back Stuart Hobson who walloped the ball into the net.
And then Taylor did get his goal. The forward took aim from long range and sent a fierce drive past Lukas Lidakevicius.
Borough were in charge and stretched their lead on the hour mark.
It was another fine goal, with Taylor again involved as he set up Mark Hughes who hammered in off the far post.
Gavin McCallum put added gloss on the scoreline in the closing stages as Borough secured the points.
East Thurrock United: Lidakevicius, Sammons, Marvel Ekpiteta, Peddie, Marvin Ekpiteta, Wood, Harris, Craddock, Higgins, Freiter, Wraight
