KHALE Da Costa said he was willing to cut short his holiday in Florida to ensure his move to Concord Rangers went through.

The 23-year-old winger linked up with the Beach Boys last week, moving from Ryman Premier League side Hendon.

And the ambitious Da Costa said moving to the National League South outfit was a ‘no brainer’, after he got the phone call while he was in the USA.

“I found out they were interested when (manager) Adam (Flanagan) got in touch,” said Da Costa.

“I was away at the time on a two-week holiday in Florida and I was willing to come back straight away in all honesty.

“They are a big club and play at a high level and it felt like a dream come true.

“I have worked hard and have always wanted to test myself in the National League South.

“Once I got back from my holiday I spoke once again with Adam and agreed to make the move.

“I listened to what Adam had to say and he impressed me. Hearing him talk about the club and the squad it was something I wanted to be a part of.

“I wasn’t about to let this pass me by.”

Da Costa has not met any of his new team-mates yet, although admits his is looking forward to the start of pre-season.

And he is hopeful he will be able to make an impression next season, after a frustrating 2016/17 campaign.

“I started last season at Hendon before Harlow Town came in for me,” he said.

“I went to them at the end of October and I started really well and scored four goals in my first three games or something like that.

“But then I got injured and struggled to hit the ground after that.

“So I rejoined Hendon for their final nine or 10 games and was able to help them stay in the league which was great.”

Da Costa describes himself as a direct winger and is already setting himself some lofty targets for the new season.

“I scored nine goals and got 12 assists last season,” he said.

“In terms of next season, I want a lot of assists as that is my primary aim.

“So to get about 15 make it into double figures for goals wouldn’t be too bad.

“I am direct and want to get the ball in the box. I love running at players and am an old fashioned that way.

“But I am looking forward to it all very much. I now need to show what I can do in pre-season and earn my place in the team.”
