DIVISION TWO: Basildon & Pitsea captain Michael Gray admits his team must get over a couple of ‘heart-breaking results’ when they take on Hutton.

Basildon were defeated by a single wicket last time out against Loughton, as they came close to ending their losing run in SNEL Division Two.

But it wasn’t to be, and an even tougher test awaits tomorrow, with Division One destined Hutton the visitors to Mopsies Park tomorrow.

“We have had a couple of heartbreakers,” he said.

“We should have beaten Horndon and Loughton in the last two weeks. We had Loughton at about 85/7 and couldn’t get their last three guys. We should have 30 points more than we do.

“We have a tough one and Hutton and Hainault & Clayhall are running away with the league.

“We are showing we can compete but how we haven’t won I don’t know.

“We need that to change.”

Rob Davies, Lloyd Lambert and Craig Thompson all return.

Old Southendian & Southchurch are two points above the relegation places, with only the form of Old Brentwoods keeping them safe as the bottom three struggle for form.

Sixth-placed Fives & Heronians visit tomorrow, looking to distance themselves from those below them.

Wickford welcome Loughton, as they bid to bounce back from defeat against Hutton.

One of the division’s form teams, Wickford will be determined to keep up the heat on the top two with a win.

Horndon-on-the-Hill’s recent resurgence has helped them clamber clear of the drop zone.
