CANVEY Island return to home action tonight, following last week’s postponement due to a problem with the floodlights.

That saw the Gulls’ Isthmian North clash against Heybridge Swifts re-arranged, but the green light has been given for Dereham Town to visit.

The Gulls came back from two goals down and with 10 men to draw 2-2 with Soham Town Rangers on Saturday.

“It was a good point but it is another game where we have dominated and failed to win,” said Gulls boss Danny Heale.

“We went behind to another individual error and at 2-0 we looked dead and buried.

“But it shows the character we have in the group as we were able to come back and get a point. Another five minutes and we would have won it.

“Dereham are a good side and I have spoken to managers about them so I know what to expect.

“We are heading into a lot of these games blind as we are new to this level but we have prepared the best we can.

“We will get there once we have cut out the silly errors.”

James Walker has returned to training. Goalkeeper Henry Newcombe is available after his red card on Saturday.
