GREAT Wakering Rovers and Basildon United are on the road in their attempts to climb into the Isthmian North.

Rovers and Bees have been faultless in recent weeks and both are well placed ahead of the final run-in.

Rovers sit top although should Basildon win their two games in hand they will be just a point off the summit.

Iain O’Connell’s team travel to eighth-placed Tower Hamlets tomorrow and Basildon will be strong favourites at 19th-placed Burnham Ramblers.

“We feel good as we beat Sawbridgeworth Town 4-0 in the week despite being reduced to 10 men when it was 0-0,” said O’Connell. “The boys have got a great camaraderie and work hard for each other.

“Being top means nothing at the moment but we have given ourselves a chance and I am proud of that.”

Billy Johnson - labelled as ‘brilliant’ by O’Connell - misses out through injury.

“We need to continue doing the good work we are doing,” said Bees chief Marc Harrison. “I have learned not to take things for granted in this league. You must turn up.

“Burnham beat Redbridge and we can’t afford to lose ground now.”

Will Putt and Matt Brinklow are doubts.

Hullbridge Sports’ relegation battle continues against outside promotion hopefuls Takeley.

Sports have not played a home match since February 24 due to the weather and their match against fifth-placed Takeley is also a doubt after numerous outbreaks of rain this week.

“It is a very tough game,” said boss Darren Manning. “We remain confident of survival, we have a great squad and there is a good feeling in the camp.”

Conor Mead has joined Sports.

Southend Manor make the trip to Enfield 1893 bidding to narrow the gap to the top half of the division.

Just one point separates the two teams in the standings, although victory for Manor could take them to within a single point of the top 10.
