National League South
EAST Thurrock United got back to winning ways thanks to a 2-0 victory at Bognor Regis Town.
Reece Harris and Sam Higgins were on target as John Coventry's side pulled further away from the National League South drop zone.
The visitors went into the encounter having not claimed a win since beating Oxford City on January 20.
But East Thurrock got off to the perfect start as they took the lead inside six minutes at Nyewood Lane.
Harris found a way past home goalkeeper Dan Lincoln to put Rocks in the driving seat.
Jimmy Muitt rounded goalkeeper Lukas Lidakevicius but was denied by an important challenge as the home side looked to get back on level terms.
Harry Honesty came close to extending Rocks' advantage, but his goalbound strike was well tipped around the post by Bognor custodian Lincoln.
National League South strugglers Bognor returned for the second half looking to force an early goal after the restart, but Lidakevicius pulled off a fine save to deny Kristian Campbell.
And the three points were assured when Higgins converted an East Thurrock penalty in the dying moments.
As a result, Bognor remain in the drop zone, while Rocks have moved onto 43 points and are now closer to a play-off berth than the bottom three.
East Thurrock United: Lidakevicius, Clark, Sammons, Peddie, Darling, White, Harris, Christou, Higgins, Agyemang, Honesty
