Norwich United 1-1 Bowers & Pitsea

(Stewart 60': Knight 33')

From Plantation Park

Isthmian North

BOWERS & Pitsea's Isthmian North promotion push was strengthened thanks to picking up a valuable point at Norwich United.

David Knight got on the scoresheet for Rob Small's side, while Nathan Stewart's second half effort allowed the hosts to take a share of the spoils.

And Bowers now sit six points clear of third-placed Potters Bar Town, albeit their nearest challengers have a game in hand.

Bowers got off to a promising start, with Jamie Dicks going close to opening the scoring and Martyn Stokes having a header saved by Norwich goalkeeper Andy Wilton.

Small's charges did not find the back of the net until the 33rd minute, but it was worth the wait.

Knight swivelled and volleyed home from 35 yards to put Bowers in the ascendancy.

Dicks should have doubled Bowers' advantage with a close range header, but the visitors were indebted to Callum Chafer for keeping their lead intact as the custodian made an impressive save on the stroke of half-time.

However, Stewart equalised for Norwich on the hour mark as Bowers struggled to deal with the windy conditions.

Bowers were unable to force a winner, but Small's side will be pleased to have returned with a point that could prove crucial come the end of the season.
