On Saturday we woke up to another snowfall ahead of a trip to Norfolk.

Unsure whether the game would survive, we pressed ahead with our journey. Unfortunately, that journey went ahead without Lewis Manor as, upon his arrival at the ground, he received a call his grandad had been taken unwell so he rightly had to rush off and miss the game.

Lewis’ grandad is a regular at Bowers games and I want to take the opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery. This left the boys on the coach a little quiet as they were concerned for their team-mate.

As we arrived in Norfolk, there had not been a drop of snow. That was to come at around 3pm! The game went ahead but, as the afternoon went on, the conditions became more and more farcical.

In a game of two halves, we were guilty of not putting Norwich to bed when we had the chance and were also on the wrong side of a couple of key decisions. In the second half, we rarely made it past the halfway line such was the magnitude of the wind and Norwich’s pressure.

Taking everything into consideration, that could be a really big point come the end of the season. In our dressing room we expect to do better but, under the circumstances and the conditions, I am proud we did not get beat. The vocal support that followed us on the road was a big contributor to keeping the boys going. I haven’t known an away atmosphere like that since our FA Vase run.

The way you perceive a result differs depending on the time of the season. If it was September we would be lauding a point on the road. With 10 games left to go, it’s widely felt we dropped two points. I’ve spoken about the ups and downs to come in these final weeks. Saturday was a ‘down’ for us, yet we came away from Norfolk unbeaten.

This is a big week for our season. I hope next week I can report on one of our ‘ups’.
