LOOKING AHEAD: Canvey Island begin a run of four consecutive home matches with a visit from Brentwood Town.

The Gulls have won their last two in the league to move to within touching distance of the play-offs.

A late winner at Maldon & Tiptree will have buoyed the Gulls after so many costly goals were conceded in the latter part of games last season.

Brentwood have won just once in their first four games and will be hoping assistant manager John Easterford can help pick holes in his former team’s backline.

Such is the nature of the league, victory tomorrow could see Canvey hit the top of the division.

MANAGER’S VIEW: “When the fixtures came out we knew we had a tough start and knew if we could get through that we had the potential to kick on,” said boss Danny Heale. “We seem to be a different side at home and this is a chance to put ourselves where we want to be.

“We will be worrying about ourselves and not underestimating Brentwood and if we apply ourselves correctly in a mental sense we can get the points.”

TEAM NEWS: Midfielders Frankie Merrifield and Mitch Gilbey are expected to be fit for the match.
