Billericay were denied a much-needed home win after an injury-time equaliser for Tonbridge Angels in a Conference South match at New Lodge tonight.

Billericay gave a start to their new full back Joe Anderson, who signed for the club today from Hornchurch. But they got off to the worst possible start when Mark Lovell gave the visitors the lead with a diving header from a free-kick in the second minute.

But Town were level seven minutes later when a long throw was fumbled by Tonbridge keeper Lee Worgan onto the head of Billericay’s Nathan Green and into the net.

And they took a deserved lead six minutes before the break when skipper Rob Swaine scored in his first goal of the campaign when Tonbridge failed to clear a corner.

The hosts made it 3-1 on the hour mark when Greg Oates’ shot was handballed in the penalty area, and Glenn Poole scored his fifth penalty in as many games.

Tonbridge pulled a goal back with a penalty of their own when Anderson fouled, and Frannie Collin converted from 12 yards.

But Angels rescued a point with a late strike from Ben Judge.
