LEIGH-ON-SEA captain Dean Waller admits his team will be “in a bit of a pickle” if they come unstuck against Gidea Park & Romford tomorrow.

Leigh sit second bottom in Shepherd Neame Division Two after recording just one win in their opening eight matches of the season.

They were edged out by rivals Old Southendian & Southchurch last weekend, with only Wickford below them in the standings and they now face the prospect of visiting on-form Gidea Park, who have lost just once so far.

And Waller admits his team must start getting points on the board.

“It will be hard at their place as they are flying at the moment,” he said. “But we need to forget what has passed and look forward if we are to get out of this position.

“If we get stuffed we are in a pickle, which is undeniable. But we are a good team and we all believe we can get out of this.

“We need to focus on the things we do well and make sure we bring our A-game to what will be a difficult match.”

Old Southendian & Southchurch face a tough test against Belhus, who are runaway leaders at the top of the division.

Belhus are yet to lose this campaign and have the dangerous Joe Joyce in their ranks, although Old Southendian have been showing signs of improvement in recent weeks.

They won their first match since the opening day last time out, ending a run of defeats and sit sixth in the table following the result.

Wickford welcome Hainault & Clayhall hoping to pick up a second win of the campaign.

Hainault have accrued 13 more points than Wickford this season but, such is the league table, a win for Wickford could see them enter the top five.
