THE PREVIEW: Bowers & Pitsea’s bid to stay clear of the chasing pack continues at Waltham Abbey tomorrow.

Bowers were 4-2 winners against Bury Town last weekend and will need three more points against a side mid-table ahead of kick-off.

The 13th placed side are one of a few sides likely to be too far from the play-off places to mount a challenge and far enough away from the relegation places to fear the drop.

Goals from Jamie Dicks and John Easterford were enough for Bowers to record a 2-0 win in the reverse fixture.

Abbey goalkeeper Lewis Lockyer was the star man that day. With leaders AFC Hornchurch seemingly out of sight, it is up to Bowers to keep the gap between themselves and the chasing five teams as big as possible. How will Bowers fare in the return fixture?

THE INSIGHT: “Waltham Abbey are in a moment of poor form and that should be a concern to our team,” said Bowers boss Rob Small. “When a team is in poor form they seem to have that little bit more energy to dig themselves out of it.

“They have very exciting attacking players and are certainly a threat.

“I like Paul Join, the boss, and you have to remember the last few years they are doing a lot better.

“We need to win if we want to achieve our goals. To be considered a big gun you need to behave as such. That means winning the majority of our games. We are motivated.”

THE TEAM NEWS: Bowers are expected to have a fully-fit squad.
