GREAT Wakering Rovers shared the points with leaders Redbridge as the promotion hopefuls played out a 1-1 draw in the Essex Senior League.

Wakering had walloped Redbridge 7-2 less than two weeks ago but the division's top side were expected to put up more of a fight at Burroughs Park.

And they did take an early advantage. Brian Moses put the away side ahead on 11 minutes but it wasn’t to last.

The on-form Nathan Dewberry levelled to make it all square at half-time.

And that was how it stayed, with Wakering remaining three points off top spot as a result.

Hullbridge Sports came from behind to beat Tower Hamlets 2-1 and give their survival hopes a shot in the arm.

Elios Tackie put the away team in front inside seven minutes as Sports got off to the worst possible start.

The hosts almost levelled through Callum Ibe only for goalkeeper James Pellin, formerly of Hullbridge, pushed the effort wide of the post.

And it came as no surprise who levelled the scores. Michael Salako’s cross found Luke Hornsley on his return and he netted impressively past Pellin.

It looked as though that was how it was going to stay but an own goal from the unfortunate Luke With handed a jubilant Sports victory.

Southend Manor drew 1-1 at Barkingside.

Manor had taken the lead but Side hit back at the end of the half to earn a share of the spoils.
