Concord Rangers 0-2 Welling United

National League South
CONCORD Rangers fell to their first home defeat in the league since September as Welling United claimed all three points.
The home team were kept out by a familiar face in the opening 10 minutes.
Femi Akinwande turned the ball towards goal from close range only for goalkeeper Bailey Vose, on loan at the Aspect Arena last year, to deny him well.
Concord were on top. A Ben Greenhalgh free-kick found Aristide Bassele, making his first start for the club, who sent a header just over.
Akinwande came close on more than one occasion as the home team continued to dictate play although they needed goalkeeper Louis Wells to keep parity on 35 minutes.
The goalkeeper made a terrific save to keep out Jamie Phillpott’s goal bound effort.
Bassele was halted by Vose before the first goal on the stroke of half-time. A rebound dropped to Welling’s Jack Parkinson and he slammed home.
But a wretched couple of minutes for Greenhalgh was to follow. On 62 minutes a free-kick struck the winger and raced past Wells into his own net.
And two minutes later the same man missed a penalty. A foul on Akinwande was penalised but Greenhalgh struck the crossbar.
Steve Cawley shot over as the home side looked for a route back into the match but it wasn’t forthcoming.
Concord Rangers: Wells, Smith, Brown, Farrell, Roast, Knight, Da Costa, Bassele (Ighorae 60’), Akinwande, Cawley, Greenhalgh
