FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a wood fire at a Basildon recycling centre.
Crews were called to Archers Fields, on the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate, Basildon, at about 8.45pm this evening.
They have reported between 15 and 30 tonnes of waste wood alight.
An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "A hose reel jet, a ground monitor and an aerial ladder platform are in use.
"On site staff are assisting firefighters at the incident scene."
At 10pm, the fire service confirmed a hose reel jet and one aerial ladder platform were still in use at the scene.
The fire had been brought under control and crews were turning over and damping down the wood.
At 10.30pm, it was confirmed the fire, which was started accidentally, had been extinguished.
