TEENAGERS spend about three weeks working to improve the community as part of a personal and social development scheme.

The group of young teenagers have been participating in an organisation called NCS - National Citizen Service.

This project allows teenagers from the ages of 15 -16 to have the opportunity to adventure, discover and socialise in this three- phase project.

A team of eleven have been working together to help their local community on Canvey by cleaning Concord Beach and making it a more attractive and safe environment for the community in conjunction with the Canvey Bay Watch team.

They have been collecting litter such as plastics and glass and disposing of the rubbish in the correct way.

The NCS team has also been working in collaboration with the Friends of Concord Beach to paint a mural beside the Labworth Cafe to leave their mark on the beach as a symbol to the public of the work they have done.

The concept behind the painting resembles the dull and dirty beach before, transforming into the clean and attractive beach that it has now become, representing the success that you can achieve if you work together as a team.

The NCS and the A team would like to thank Barry Campagna from Canvey Baywatch and Colin Letchford from Friends of Concord Beach for their help and support for the teams social action project.
