THE boys in blue secured bragging rights as a team of police officers pipped firefighters to a 4-3 win during a charity football match.

Officers from Castle Point and Rochford’s community policing team came out victorious and lifted The Silent Witness Cup after going up against the Rayleigh Weir fire team.

The annual match at Canvey Football Club, Park Lane, raised more than £400 for victims of domestic abuse in Basildon, Castle Point and Rochford through the charity Changing Pathways.

All the players gave up their free time for the event while off duty to help the communities they support.

The charity supports current and historic victims of domestic abuse.

A spokesman for Essex Police, said: “Our thanks go to Canvey FC, the Castle Point mayor and colleagues, Castle Point Council, our referee Mr Rawlings and our fantastic supporters for cheering us on.”
