A man has been left with a suspected gunshot wound and another has bene arrested following a gun incident in Laindon.

The 27-year-old man from Basildon was arrested last night, on suspicion of firearms offences and is currently in custody for questioning.

Initial reports suggested no-one had been injured, however police have now identified a man was injured and he has been taken to hospital with suspected gunshot injuries.

Police are continuing to look for two other men in connection with the incident in Burdock Drive, Laindon, on Thursday, November 15.

Officers were initially called with reports a Renault and a BMW were in collision just after 3.30pm and the BMW driver was seen with a firearm, which was reported to have then been shot.

Following enquiries, it is now believed the collision happened about ten minutes before the gun was shot and these two incidents are not linked.

The injured man was not in the Renault or BMW.

Essex Police is treating the firearms incident as being targeted, but remains open minded as to the motive and circumstances.

Anyone with information who has yet to speak to police is asked to call 101.
