KEEN volunteers are being encouraged to become mentors for young people in south Essex.

Castle Point Association is offering people the chance to join its team, which focuses on helping young people and children, in 2019.

Volunteer mentors will be encouraged to support young people aged eight to 19-years-old and their families to help them lead safer, happier and healthier lives.

Lindsey Gillingham, head of schemes at the association, said: “This could be one-to-one guidance and mentoring, after school and holiday activities or even co-facilitating training in schools.

“If you are seeking something new and truly worthwhile, or believe you can bring your own life experiences and skills beneficially you will find this a highly rewarding role, as children, young people and their families become connected, feel included in the community and ready for life development.

“It’s never too late to enhance your own life for the better whilst improving that of others.”
