PLYMOUTH Argyle’s Freddie Ladapo felt Roots Hall was the best possible place for him to end a six match goal drought.

Ladapo, who ended last season with the Shrimpers, bagged the Pilgrims’ second goal in their 3-2 win.

And the 25-year-old was delighted to see the ball hit the back of the net.

“ I didn’t get to score any goals in the short time I was here so it was good to get on the score-sheet,” said Ladapo who made 10 appearances for Blues last term.

“I hadn’t scored for a few games so I was a little bit rusty but this was the best place to score again so I’m very pleased.”

Ladapo has now netted 13 goals for Argyle this season.

And he is enjoying lining up for the Pilgrims.

“This team suits me a lot better”, said Ladapo, who was also a youth team player for Blues.

“The manager has taken me in and when you have a manager who wants you to do well and keeps playing you it gives you confidence which helps.

“The fans are also chanting my name which is great.

“Unfortunately things didn’t work out at Southend for me but you can’t think about the past.”

Ladapo is therefore fully focused on the matches ahead and he remains convinced Plymouth are moving in the right direction.

“In the last couple of games we’ve felt a real togetherness and I think you could see that in the way we pressed, attacked and defended as team,” said Ladapo.

“We’re working hard and this is a good win for us.

“But we have to be able to build on it now and pick up more points.”
