LONDON One North leaders Rochford Hundred made it 16 victories in a row by beating Fullerians 69-5 at Magnolia Road.

The triumph maintained Rochford’s unbeaten record this season and also kept them eight points clear at the top of the table, much to the delight of prop forward Craig Strachan.

“The game went well,” said Strachan.

“They were a very physical side that caused some issues up front so we had to keep our foot down and it was very pleasing to get the win.

“We needed to keep the positive momentum going leading into the big games against Colchester and Walsham we have coming up so it was an important win too.”

The triumph means Rochford have still not lost since April 2017.

And Strachan has been delighted with Hundred’s season so far as they bid to secure a second successive promotion.

“The season has gone really well so far,” said Strachan.

“We are also starting to show the depth of our squad now with three people playing their first game of the season and doing very well.”

Rochford are now just seven points shy of bringing up 1,000 points for the campaign.

And Strachan was pleased to add to the tally with a try of his own at the weekend.

“It’s always enjoyable to score and even more enjoyable when the photographer is down so I can get some good pictures,” said Strachan.

“But the win was the most important thing because we want to win the league without losing a single game.

“We want a try scoring bonus point in every match and we’re on course for that at the moment.”

Ian Meads scored two first half tries while Jack Doherty, Strachan and Harry Hudson also touched down to put Rochford 33-0 in front at the break.

In the second half, Mark Billings, Alan Barker, Alfie Justice, William Ferrier and Norbertas Radzevicius also scored tries to secure another convincing win for Rochford with the rest of the points coming from the boot of fly-half Cameron Greenhall.

Hundred will now be bidding for another emphatic victory when they head to bottom of the table Diss this weekend.
