CROWDS are expected to gather once again this summer as a hugely popular war-themed show returns to a historic venue.

Temple at War will return to Cressing Temple in May and early bird tickets are on sale now for those looking to secure a bargain.

It will be the fifth time the barns host the jam-packed military vintage show which is quickly gaining a reputation as being one of the best around.

The family friendly show brings together more than 900 re-enactors from the First and Second World Wars as well as the Cold War.

It will also host performances by 1940s entertainment trios the Hotsie Totsies and Fox, Wiggle and Sass.

Visitors will be able to spend time wandering through 90 amazing displays and see explosive pyrotechnic displays based on real war encounters.

And, weather and mechanics permitting, there will be a Battle of Britain aerial display.

Collectors will be able to find a bargain or two from the traders while lessons on handling a bayonet and de-activating training bombs will be on offer too.

There will be a German woodland encampment, spontaneous enactments and the chance to join the Home Guard.

Visitors can also learn about the thousands of artifacts and items on display, understand how to dance to the period’s music and chat to seasoned enthusiasts.

And, if that wasn’t enough, this year Herr Flick and Helga from classic comedy Allo! Allo! will be on hand to perform and meet fans.

A spokesman said: “Imagine your very own time tank that can transport you back 100 years.

“All your senses will tell you are walking through the biggest living history interactive museum you are likely to experience.

“You can soak up history in a way which just can’t be experienced from downloading computer applications, reading books or sitting in a classroom.”

Signature attractions which have been built exclusively by the team over the past five years will remain.

The show will take place on May 11 and 12 and early bird tickets are available until March 31. Visit templeatwar.co.uk to book.
