A man has been charged following an armed siege in Southend.
Alan Gwynne, 57, of Sherwood Way, Southend, was arrested on Monday, January 28, following a disturbance at an address in Sherwood Way.
The disturbance led to armed officers being called to the scene and negotiations taking place over 12 hours through the night.
Gwynne has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm, making threats to kill, assault by penetration, possession of cannabis, possession of cocaine, affray, and possession of an imitation firearm.
He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court yesterday, January 30 and was remanded in custody to appear at Basildon Crown Court on February 27.
