A NIGHTCLUB has denied problems with drink spiking on its premises despite women falling unconscious and ambulances being called.

Following a series of claims on social media, and reports from police of five reported investigations into drink spiking in Southend, two women fell unconscious in Moo Moo Clubrooms, Warrior Square, Southend in the early hours of Sunday morning, one of who was then robbed.

A 24-year-old clubber said: “We were having a laugh and I remember everything up to the point where I collapsed. I only had two bottles of Smirnoff Ice, which I had with me.

“Next thing I know I’ve woken up in hospital. I’m a good drinker, I’m six-foot tall of a big build.

“I don’t recall the ambulance journey but my boyfriend said I was completely not myself, and that I was kicking out and trying to bite and punch him, as well as myself.

“I just feel sick about it all, it petrified me. I never thought I would leave Southend but it has got so bad, what’s happened is just the nail in the coffin.

“Me and my boyfriend are already looking at other areas to move to, I’ve got two babies to think about. The club needs to admit there is a problem. So many girls have said this has happened to them too but are too scared to come forward.”

Her boyfriend said: “We were talking to each other on the dance floor and the next thing you know she’s just fallen like she got knocked out, it’s lucky I caught her before she could hit her head.

“But she was out cold. I was panicking, but I put her in the recovery position and one of the bouncers even tried to stop from doing that saying to leave her.

“Myself and some other bouncers carried her out and the ambulance came pretty quickly. Another girl had passed out around the same time as my partner.”

This victim, who was 18 and has also spoken to the Echo, claimed she fell unconscious in the toilets. A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 2.19am on Sunday with reports of a female patient who was unconscious in Warrior Square. We sent one ambulance and a medic on scene alerted crews to a second female patient who was unconscious. Both patients were taken to Southend Hospital for further treatment.” A spokesman for the club claimed there were no confirmed reports of drink spiking. A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are investigating after two women reported they had their drinks spiked while in Moo Moo nightclub between 10.30pm on February 16 and 2.15am on February 17. Call 101 with information quoting 42/27181/19 or 42/27344/19.
