A BRITISH Transport Police officer has been charged with assault and criminal damage following an Essex Police investigation.
Police Sergeant Daniel Hughes was charged with two counts of common assault and one count of criminal damage in relation to the investigation.
The charges relate to incidents which occurred in Basildon during 2018. He has been placed on restricted duties whilst the investigation continues.
Hughes, whose policing is based in London, will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on May 17.
