An Independent candidate claims the council is not carrying out duties to resurface car park.

Thurrock Independents Candidate for the Aveley By-Election, Alan Field has called on Thurrock Council to not leave jobs half done.

Thurrock Council leased the Reeds Car Park, off High Street, Aveley whilst the Rec car park is closed due to construction of the new Aveley hub.

Part of the lease required the Council to resurface the car park.

Alan Field said: "I was shocked to see only half the job done. Rather than resurface the whole area, two crater sized potholes have been left meaning cars have to dodge them to enter the car park.

"You can see clearly in the picture where they have worked up to and less than a foot away somehow 'missed' the two potholes.

"Councillor Peter Smith has contacted Thurrock Council demanding they get their team back out to finish the job so that residents cars are protected.

"Residents rightly get annoyed and feel the Council is incompetent when mistakes like this have been made."

A Thurrock Council spokesman said: “We are aware of this issue and are taking action to ensure that the potholes are repaired as soon as possible.”
