A KNIFE-wielding gang targeted a woman in an attempted car-jacking.

The horrified victim was in her car with a passenger in a car park in Rosberg Road, Canvey, at 10.40pm on Sunday, when a large black car attempted to block her in the car park.

Four of the men got out of the car and began walking towards the victim - with two of the men wielding knives.

The victim was able to flee the scene in her car, exiting the car park.

But the gang quickly re-entered their car and gave chase.

It was only when the victim drove to the Canvey police station, that the men, allegedly a group of five and all described as mixed race, gave up on the pursuit.

The victim told the Echo she was shaken and deeply affected by the attempted attack.

She stated she did not want to go over the incident, but posted to social media to say: “On the [Sunday] at about 22.40pm, I got chased by a black SUV, similar to a big Vauxhall.

“They blocked me in and four mixed race boys got out with knives.

“The knives were about 10 to 15 inches long.

“It happened near Rosberg Road and they chased us all the way to the police station.”

Essex Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We are investigating following an attempted robbery on Canvey Island.

“It was reported a group of five men, described to us as being mixed race, used their car to block the victim’s car from leaving a car park in Rosberg Road at around 10.40pm on March 3.

“Four of the men, two of which are reported to have had knives, approached the victim’s car before the victim was able to drive away.”
