SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell felt midfielder Luke Hyam was hit by a ‘disgraceful challenge’ from Blackpool’s Jay Spearing at the weekend.
Hyam was left needing stitches on his shin following the challenge from the opposing midfielder.
And Powell could not believe the tackle was not punished by referee Chris Sarginson.
“It was a disgraceful tackle on Luke,” said Powell.
“It was a two-footed tackle but nothing was done about it.
“He’s had stitches but he’s trained since and hopefully he will be available to play against Scunthorpe.”
