Councillor and mayor Barbara Rice resigns
COUNCILLOR and mayor Barbara Rice has stepped down.
Following yesterday's by-election, which saw David Van Day become councillor for Aveley and Uplands, it was announced that Mrs rice would be resigning.
A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held alongside the local elections on Thursday, 2 May as the required notice has been given in writing by two electors from the borough of Thurrock to the Returning Officer.
