A SPECIAL needs disco is celebrating a year of success.

Freedom Club Nights have been growing since last year’s launch.

The weekly event is held at Dick de Vigne’s, Southend.

The event welcomes people with special needs and their carers to enjoy fun together.

Organiser Paul Gee, 60, said the event gives people with special needs a sense of belonging and a chance to have fun.

He said: “I started the event because there was a gap in the market.

“We have between 100 and 150 people come each week.

“We want to let people know about it, there is nothing like this in Southend.

“We are so proud of how well it has been doing but we did think it would do well as we put the work in.

“The people who come to the events really enjoy it and look forward to it.”

“We have a big party planned for Wednesday March 27.

“There will be cake, a magic mirror that is accessible for everyone to enjoy having their photos taken and guest appearances.

“The Cake Box in Westcliff has very kindly donated a massive cake for us all to enjoy.”
