A THUG harassed and threatened to rape a woman from Grays, while hiding his identity.
Troy White, 31, has now been jailed for more than a year-and-a-half.
White admitted harassment with fear of violence at Basildon Crown Court last week.
He was jailed for a total of 592 days.
He was also given a restraining order for ten years.
Police started an investigation into White after a woman received numerous threats from him, including threats of rape.
During the investigation, the woman received numerous phone calls and voice mails from withheld and unknown numbers.
In some circumstances he would put on various accents to try and hide his identify, while harassing her. A voice recognition expert established that all the voice mails were from him.
White of Carnforth Gardens, Hornchurch, was arrested in August 2018 and charged.
Investigating officer PC Rachel Elwell, of Grays Domestic Abuse Investigation’s Team, said: “White made threats to harm and rape an innocent woman in attempt to control and harass her.
“His actions caused this woman a huge amount of distress and fear.
“She received dozens of phone calls and voice mails from him. He went to extreme lengths to harass her, including impersonating other people and putting on accents.
“We supported the victim and worked closely with a voice recognition expert who identified the caller as White.
“I would to praise the victim for her support and bravery throughout this case and I hope yesterday’s outcome with White jailed brings her some closure.”
