A PASSERBY had to sit with scared schoolgirls after concerns a pervert was trying to look up their skirts.

Parents have been warned after concerns were raised by pupils at De La Salle School and Language College.

Head of School Anna Brown said: “The school have been informed of an alleged incident which occurred by the Big Q shops on Whitmore Way.

“We have informed our parents and ask anyone who sees any suspicious behaviour to inform the police.”

Good Samaritan Sasha Marie was outside Big Q, Whitmore Way, Basildon, when she first saw a man behaving oddly towards schoolchildren.

The 20 year old explained: “I noticed this old man being a little weird, staring and biting his lip at young girls and young boys.

“Not realising I was looking at him, he pretended to do his shoe lace up, before he looked up a young girl’s skirt. The kids were aged from five years old up to their teens.

“He was then stood behind a group of young De La Salle schoolgirls and was picking fag butts up of the floor.

“While doing that he was continuing to look up their skirts, at one point I thought he leaned up against one of the young schoolgirls.

“The group of schoolgirls got so scared that they put their jackets and blazers over their legs and said ‘that old pervert is staring at us, is it okay if we sit with you and her until he leaves please’.

“I told them to come into the shop with me while I grabbed my mum so that we could call the police.”

The man was white with grey combed back wavy hair and tall, wearing white trainers, beige trousers, a blue top with white stripes and a dark grey or black body warmer.

Sasha made schools aware of the incident.

She continued: “A lovely old lady came out and was warning all the parents she could while I was phoning 101.

“One of the dads that was talking to us and saw him doing it went straight over to him and he said ‘if I see you looking up another little girls skirt I’ll run you over’.”

Police were unable to confirm the report made.

However warnings have been sent out by a school to make parents aware.
