Officers investigating a domestic incident in Basildon are appealing for information to assist with their enquiries.

A man and a woman are alleged to have been in a verbal argument outside Smith Glass on Bentalls, part of Pipps Hill Industrial Estate, on the evening of April 14, with the man attempting to force the woman into his car, a large black Mercedes.

It is believed that a car passed by at the time of the incident, described by the female victim as a dark estate car, and may have had more than one person inside.

The car passed the pair just after 9.30pm, before returning to the scene several minutes later and stopping, allowing the victim to escape on foot.

Essex Police believe that the victim, who was wearing a long black puffed coat, attempted to flag down the passing car by running towards it as the Mercedes attempted to follow her.

Officers believe that the occupants of the passing car may hold vital information about this incident, and would urge them to get in touch with the Basildon Domestic Abuse Investigation Team on their direct dial number 01268 244095 or on 101.

Anyone with information relevant to their investigation should quote the crime reference number 42/58889/19.
