NEW Hadleigh & Thundersley skipper Adam Dobson feels his side have made a solid start to the season but believes the best is yet to come.

Hadleigh have yet to win in the Premier Division this term, drawing two of their opening three games.

But Dobson is still confident Hadleigh can continue to pick up points.

“It’s been a tough start to the season up against two teams I expect to be fighting to win the league and a newly promoted team,” said Dobson.

“But saying that, to pick up the points we have so far is reasonable.

“We’ve had a solid start but now we just need to kick on and continue to pick up more points before we hit the 50 over games, which play more to our strengths.”

Hadleigh have taken 24 points from their opening three games.

But Dobson is determined to add to the tally at home to Chingford tomorrow.

“It will be a tough game as they all our but on our day we can challenge any team in the league so there’s no reason why we can’t target a win against Chingford,” said Dobson.

“We want to get more points and being realistic we want to finish mid-table this season.

“We are still new to the Prem division and know how competitive it is.

“But we have a lot of young talent in this team so the ability to hold our own in this division is definitely there.”

And Dobson is proud to be leading them into action.

“It’s a huge honour to captain the club,” said Dobson.

“I’ve been here for about 10 years now and have progressed from the youth set up through to where I am now, so I’m very proud be captain.

“The club’s going through a lot of positive changes at the moment, with improvements to our club house and playing facilities, so it’s great to see the club grow to where it is now.”
