SOUTHEND United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has been called into the England under 20 squad for the Maurice Revello Tournament.

The Shrimpers shot-stopper has replaced Huddersfield Town’s Ryan Schofield in the 21 man squad in France.

And Blues goalkeeping coach Lee Harrison is delighted to see Bishop receive international recognition.

“Nathan deserves this because he’s such a hard-working boy,” said Harrison.

“He’s the first one in and the last one out.

“He’s relentless in his work and this will be another great experience for him.

“He’s been involved in a few of the training camps and once you get to work with Nathan and see how hard he works you can’t help but like him.”

The Young Lions will face initial opposition from Japan, Portugal and Chile in their group stage as England aim to retain a title which they’ve held for the last three years.

Bishop is the only player selected in the squad from a club below the Championship.
