IT could have been magic...but instead Take That fans’ patience wore very thin as they waited to catch a glimpse of a live stream of the band’s greatest hits tour.

Fans were left furious in Basildon after a cinema screen failed to stream the award-winning group’s concert in Cardiff Principality Stadium.

Echo:

Blank - the empty screen

Echo:

Bandmates - Gary Barlow and co.

The event was being hosted by Cineworld in Festival Leisure Park.

The cinema had two screens scheduled to stream the broadcast, but viewers in one were forced to leave without watching a second as the live stream failed to appear.

The angry cinemagoers took to social media to share their disappointment.

Emma Borrell tweeted: “I couldn’t get tickets for the tour, then heard about live screenings. I bought tickets for myself, my sister and mum. Sat in the Cineworld cinema Basildon for nearly two hours until management told us all they couldn’t fix the problem. So disappointed.”

Paul Dorrington posted: “Our cinema screen at Cineworld Basildon Essex couldn’t get the link to work in one screen (despite next door screen working) and we were all sent away extremely disappointed missing the show.

“A free cinema ticket cannot make up for a live broadcast that cannot be repeated.”

Deb Clark tweeted: “Why did some fans get emails at 5pm to say they couldn’t view Take That Live in two screens and cancelled their viewing, yet in Basildon we didn’t get told until ten minutes before they came on stage that they can’t get a live link, but the other screen did?”

A Cineworld spokesman confirmed there had been an isolated issue.

He added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and have offered tickets and refunds to those affected.

“We would like to thank our customers for their co-operation and look forward to welcoming them back to the cinema.”

Cineworld have also confirmed there will be an encore showing of the concert on Friday, June 21, in various cinemas in the UK, including Basildon.
