A Billericay rugby club took part in a nationwide scheme to refurbish their buildings and grounds.

Billericay Bees took part in the Natwest scheme, “Rugbyforce weekend”, in which rugby clubs apply for the bank’s funding to refurbish their facilities.

Approximately 50 volunteers helped give the clubhouse a fresh lick of paint, along with several other jobs, which included installing a new set of gates, fixing the changing room, fixing the toilets, and carrying out maintenance of the car park.

Volunteers were of all ages, and were delighted with their completed work.

Training has already begun for next season, which begins in September, and the maintenance went a long way in getting the club ready for their next campaign.

Billericay Bees take part every year in the Natwest scheme, which is aimed at helping grassroots rugby clubs to attract members and become more sustainable in the future.

A member of staff at Billericay Bees, said: “Everyone did an amazing job.

“Everyone at the club are so proud.”
