A TEENAGER has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash at an accident hotspot.

The 15-year-old girl suffered serious leg injuries on London Road, Wickford and was taken to Basildon Hospital.

The incident took place at around 4pm on Wednesday and police are appealing for witnesses.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and the air ambulance were called at around 4.45pm yesterday following reports that a pedestrian had been injured in a road traffic collision.

“A female patient was transported to Basildon Hospital for further assessment and care.”

Tory councillor Carole Morris said: “I saw the aftermath, it was really busy time of day and it’s a really busy area.

“I have tried to put a roundabout there but was told that the road is too narrow.

“All action has been taken to tell everyone to take care.

“It’s 30mph and I hope everyone sticks to it.”

Fellow councillor Donald Morris added: “I’m not surprised it happened at all, it’s such a busy area. I’m unsure on how it happened.

“Speeding along there is an issue, you can only fine people for going over the limit.

“Everyone needs to take more care, both drivers and pedestrians.”

Families living in the area also reported there have been several near misses.

“A 15 year-old girl was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.
