Do you know someone at Southend Hospital who deserves recognition for making a real difference to you or a loved one?

The nominations window is open for the seventh Southend’s Hospital Heroes Patients’ Choice award, and the hospital has once again joined forces with the Echo to help find three shortlisted nominees deserving of the coveted Patients’ Choice award.

Echo:

Gary Pearson, editor at the Echo, said: “It is great to once again be involved in celebrating some of the amazing people who work at Southend Hospital.

“The awards celebrate not only those on the frontline but those who work behind the scenes as well.

“All of these people play such a vital role in improving patient care.”

The Patients’ Choice award, which is exclusively voted for by the public, is the patients, carers, relatives and visitors’ chance to say thank you by nominating a member of staff who has gone that extra mile to deliver the best possible service and really embodies the hospital’s ethos of care with compassion.

Your nomination will help celebrate the fantastic work of a staff member or team at Southend Hospital who you feel goes above and beyond their duty.

Only three go through to the public voting stage so the nomination forms really count. The closing date for nominations is August 5.

Last year’s Patients’ Choice award was nominated and voted for people in their thousands.

The award was presented by Mr Pearson to Consultant Cardiologist Dr Thomas Keeble who collected his award to thunderous applause, but like all the winners on the evening was humble about the accolade.

On winning the award, Mr Keeble said: “I am absolutely delighted and ecstatic for the support I’ve had from my colleagues and my patients across Southend and beyond.

“Thank you, it’s a real honour and I’m really, really pleased.”
