Students of the Ortu Sixth Form Centre, Stanford & Corringham, have achieved “spectacular results” in their recent A-Levels exams after opening their results this morning with a 100% student pass rate.

Impressively, this year, the Sixth Form has a 98% subject pass rate at A-Level, and a 100% subject pass rate for Vocational education, meaning that every student achieved at least 1 A Level exam and Vocational subject.

Joseph Packer, 18, Corringham, studied A-Levels in Physics, Maths and Psychology, and achieved an A and two Bs. Now, Joseph is hoping to pursue his passion for physics by studying the subject at the University of Sussex.

"I want to study physics because I like problem solving, and would like to pursue it as a career. The friendliness within class made studying A-Levels enjoyable and engaging.”

Shahin Hashemi, 18, Stanford, achieved two A*s and an A, and is now hoping to further his education by studying maths at the University of Warwick. Reflecting back on his time at the Sixth Form, Shahin said: "A teacher I will remember is Miss Ashford. She helped me a lot since I joined Gable Hall School and the Sixth Form.” When asked what advice he would give to anyone thinking of studying A-Levels, Shahin said: "Pick the subjects you like and are good at, and work hard.”

Another Sixth Form student celebrating their results is Megan Harris, 18, Stanford, who studied BTEC Applied Science and proudly said: "Next, I’m going to the University of Essex to study Sports Therapy.”

Mr Ceri Evans, Principal of Ortu Gable Hall, said: “Well done to all of our students. Their spectacular results are a testament to all of their hard work and the dedicated support of the Sixth Form team. This continues the progress seen by Ofsted which judged the Sixth Form as securely good or better in all areas.”

Ms Sue Weston, Director of the Ortu Sixth Form Centre, Stanford & Corringham said: “I am absolutely delighted for the young people of our Sixth Form College. They will now be able to go to the University, job or Apprenticeship of their choice, properly equipped for what lies ahead of them. The entire Sixth Form team wish them every success for the future.”
