A MAN was mugged at knifepoint in Basildon near to the Jolly Friar pub.

The victim took to social media shortly after the incident, warning residents in the area he had been threatened and robbed.

During the incident, the victim had his wallet, phone and jacket stolen, with his card then used ten minutes later.

The victim also claimed his attacker pulled his ID out of his wallet, and threatened further action if the victim spoke out.

Police have now confirmed that a 19-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the incident.

The mugging took place at roughly 5.40pm on Wednesday, on a pathway leading towards the pub, on Whitmore Way.

The victim took to Facebook to warn residents in the area about the incident, shocked that it had all taken place in broad daylight.

He said: “At 5:40pm on Wednesday evening I got mugged at knifepoint by a white male, about 15-17 years old, black tracksuit, black body warmer, average length black hair and very freckly.

“This was on the pathway towards the Jolly Friar.

“The male was on a bike, and asked me directions towards Butneys. He then got off the black Carrera mountain bike and held a knife up against me and demanded my wallet, phone and jacket. Which I gave to him.

“He then got my ID out of my wallet and said he knows where I live and not to tell anyone.

“Ten minutes after my card was then used at the Big Q shops at 5.50pm. This happened around the corner to me and in broad daylight.

“The items stolen are quite distinctive so I would appreciate if people can keep a look out. This has been reported to the police.”

The victim had his red Iphone 8 stolen, with a crack in the top right corner, as well as a black Ted Baker wallet, with a light blue outline, and a grey Tommy Hilfiger jacket.
