THE world’s most famous catwalk stars may have been out for New York Fashion Week – and getting set for London Fashion Week starting yesterday – but they have nothing on these south Essex models rocking some serious Eighties style.
We’ve dug up these photographs from our archives which show fashion shows taking place around Basildon, Southend, Hadleigh, Thurrock and Canvey decades ago.
Most are from the 1980’s so expect a Dynasty vibe with plenty of back-combed perms and power suited shoulder pads. There’s also a few leather-clad punk trends going on too.
Although most were taken in the 80s, a few pics are from the nineties and even one from the late seventies.
Many of the images are from college fashion shows, with students sashaying around in their own creations.
