TWO men were punched and bitten by a dog in an attempted robbery.
Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery and assault in Basildon on Saturday.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called shortly after 3.15pm to reports that two men in their 40s had been injured in Peterborough Way.
"They reported that they had been approached by a large group of people, believed to be six men and six women, aged in their late teens or early 20s.
"One of the victims was punched during the attempted robbery, and another was bitten by a dog the group had with them, which has been described as a pit bull."
Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage is urged to call Basildon CID on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/151312/19.
