A RECRUITMENT agency from Cheshire is on the look out for former Thomas Cook staff to help them back into work.

The tour operator, which was founded in 1841 and employs 22,000 people worldwide, collapsed this morning after last-minute negotiations to save the company failed.

An estimated 150,000 British holidaymakers require bringing home in what is said to be the biggest ever peacetime repatriation.

But over 9,000 staff who were employed by the company in the UK have also been affected by the collapse and find themselves out of work.

Howard James Recruitment and Training, who have offices across Cheshire and in Manchester, now hope to offer these employees a route back into ‘immediate’ work in similar roles

A social media post by one of the agency’s directors reads: “Does anyone know someone who worked at Thomas Cook in Warrington, Northwich or Altrincham?

“I have jobs that would suit someone from the travel industry with an immediate start locally to them.”

The post states that travel customer services roles are available, offering a basic salary of £19,500.
