POLICE are urgently appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was hit by a car on Canvey.
The force says a white Vauxhall Astra Sportive and a 31-year-old man were involved in the collision, in Long Road, at about 6.50am on Monday. September 23.
It happened outside the William Read School.
The man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries, including head injuries, a broken arm and broken ribs. He has since been discharged after undergoing surgery.
The driver, a 37-year-old man from Canvey, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, possession of drugs, drug-driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
He has been released under investigation while police enquiries continue.
