STUDENTS will skip school again tomorrow to push for action on climate change.

Oxford Youth Strike has organised a small-scale 'picnic protest' in Oxford city centre, on the last day before schools break up for half term.

Pupils have been invited to meet in Bonn Square at 11am to walk to County Hall for 11.30am, where Oxfordshire County Council is based.

A facebook event page states: "The protest will take place in the form of a sit-in/picnic, please bring homemade food and drinks with minimal single-use plastic packaging.

"We will be having a revision session to show that even though we are missing our education, we still care greatly about it, so bring along your school books."

The protest was described as 'non-disruptive' and is expected to be on a much smaller scale than the 'school strikes' organised by the same group, the next of which is due to take place in November.

The Facebook page adds: "Like many government institutions [the county council] have declared a climate emergency and have committed to becoming carbon neutral.

"Whilst we are grateful that many institutions have declared a climate emergency, there is still so much more that needs to be done. So we will sit outside County Hall to let all levels of Government know that we are here.

"Our future is in their hands and we are watching as they decide whether to save it or not."
