A SCHOOL in special measures is awaiting the result of its latest Ofsted visit.

St Gregory the Great Catholic School in East Oxford, which was rated 'inadequate' in March 2017, had another inspection from the watchdog on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.

The 1,200-pupil academy has had five 'monitoring' inspections since then, which serve to check on progress rather than award a rating.

This is understood to have been the first full inspection since the 2017 report, meaning the all-through school could finally get a new rating and get out of special measures if enough improvements have been made.

Its last monitoring inspection was in June, when inspectors were positive about 'relentless' work to improve standards but raised concerns about some 'remaining weaknesses.'

According to Government guidelines, Ofsted usually sends schools a copy of their draft report within 10 working days, to check for factual accuracy.

The final report will usually be published on Ofsted's website within 28 working days of the end of the inspection.

However, for the 2017 inspection, two months passed between the visit and the report being published publicly.
