A YOUNGSTER has been chosen from hundreds of entries to be a cover star of a special Armed Forces charity calendar.

Zak Gold, two, will be on the front of the Little Troopers Military Moments calendar for next year.

The charity - which provides fundamental resources and initiatives to support military children - asked people from forces families from across the country to send in their snaps.

Their aim was to capture special moments from forces families as seen through the eyes of children.

In the touching image, Zak is trying on his father Cpl Shane Gold’s Military Provost Staff dress uniform.

It was taken as the family packed to move to Colchester last year.

Zak’s proud mum, Kym Gold, said: “Zak is so excited to be chosen.

“We’ve used Little Troopers resources to help Zak and his sibling during Shane’s deployments, including the separation pack, stories and online resources, so we are really pleased to help to raise money for such an important cause.”

Little Troopers founder, army veteran and military parent, Louise Fetigan, added: “We are delighted that Zak is one of our calendar winners this year.

“His picture encapsulates the special bond that military children have with their serving parents and military life.

“One of the biggest challenges military children face is moving home and school frequently, as well as being separated from their parents for long periods of time.

“That’s why Little Troopers exists, to champion and support military children like Zak, whatever forces life sends their way.”

The calendar is now on sale, priced £7.50, with all proceeds helping Little Troopers to continue.
